IBM Safer Payments 6.10: XGBoost models and faster investigations
The new version trains boosted-tree models on your own history, lets analysts look at an account without opening a case, and gives investigators layouts built around their work.
IBM Safer Payments 6.10 is available. It brings new modelling options for fraud teams and makes everyday investigation work faster.
What is new for your fraud team
Boosted-tree models trained on your data
A new simulation scenario trains models based on the XGBoost library, directly in Safer Payments, on your historical data. The training is configured with the usual XGBoost parameters, and the resulting models are used in Safer Payments as model components, next to your rules and other models.
Look at an account without opening a case
With the new account summary, an analyst queries the investigation and historical data for an entity, for example a card number, without creating a full case. Safer Payments finds the existing cases or creates a temporary virtual case with all the investigation functions. Virtual cases disappear at the end of the day, unless the analyst turns one into a regular case by taking any investigation action.
Case lists built around each team
Custom layouts for the case selection page let you define cards with preset filters (case classes, states, investigators, working queues, scores) and assign a layout to each user. Calendar cards on a case show transaction metrics by period: frequency, amount, average amount and standard deviation.
Enhancements for operations
- External authorization. When users log in through single sign-on (LDAP or OIDC), their privileges can come from the role assignments in your identity system.
- Kafka in AVRO. Outgoing Kafka messages can be sent in AVRO binary or AVRO JSON, and Safer Payments generates the matching schemas.
- Simpler go-lives. Go-lives are now only structural; the logical go-live option has been removed.
Upgrading
Version 6.6 reached the end of support on 30 September 2026. If you run an earlier version, we will plan the upgrade with you and test your rules and models on the new version before it goes live.
